I am 18 weeks going on 19! I am in such an amazing part of this pregnancy. I am enjoying this more than I could have imgagined and still can't believe I will be having our baby in a few months. Everything is going great! I had a doctor's appointment about 2-3 weeks ago, and everything was great. I go next week for my next appointment. My mom will be in town, so she will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat! Weston and I have been getting the baby's room ready...well, really Weston has:) He is amazing and is so excited! I am definitely feeling and looking pregnant, which I am personally really excited about! There really is no better feeling. It is getting really hot in Texas so that will be interesting the more pregnant I get.
I felt the baby kick for the first time on Monday night. Gramma and Grampa Layfield were here and that was neat for them. It is not what I expected..it was BETTER! I can feel little tiny thumps is what is feels like. Although, until you have a baby, you can't really understand. It is an amazing feeling and I have felt it ever since. I have to sit really still and pay attention, but I can definitely feel him or her kicking away:)
I have my baby shower back home on Sunday. I am really excited to see everyone and finally start getting things to prepare for the baby! In the next few weeks Weston and I are goin to get the stroller, so I am sure that will be another interesting night!:)
My weight has stayed in the normal range. I still have only gained about 7-8 pounds, but you gain most of your weight at the end, so the less now, the better I guess. The baby is about the size of my palm and is growing lots right now. I will be half way through my pregnancy next week..YIKES! It is so exciting and I can't believe it has gone this fast. I am really enjoying being pregnant!
Thanks for keeping up with us and our journey! And thanks to all of you who send gifts for our precious baby, and thanks to those who come to the shower!
Love to All,
Wes, Rach, and Baby Layfield

Doctor's Appointment
On Wednesday we went in for our 16 week check up. I was actually really excited and ready for this one because I haven't been seen since 9 weeks in Missouri. Weston and I were really excited and ready to hear how the baby and I are doing. The nurse said I was perfectly healthy, my tests were perfect, and I was just where I should be. I have gained about 7 pounds but she said that is all baby and baby is in the place it should be. We were able to hear the heartbeat for the first time, and that was an amazing few minutes! Weston is on cloud nine and I was amazed that there really is a baby in me:) The heartbeat was at 150 beats which is strong and healthy. I go back in on June 4th and then as of now, we are scheduled to have our ultrasound on June 17. I am in the process of trying to switch hopspitals. There are 2 great hospitals right beside our house and I am, at the moment, driving 30 minutes to get on post. The Army is very particular in how they do things but there seems to be no reason why I shouldn't be able to move in a few weeks. That may move my appointments up some. Either way, it doesn't matter, the baby will get here and that is all that matters! Gramma and aunties were excited to see us this weekend. I am home for Lauren's wedding and they were excited to see"us!" Weston repainted a wooden cabinet for the baby's room since I have been gone, so that is exciting, and in about 1 1/2 weeks I will be bringing a lot of stuff back home!! YAY!

Baby Baby Baby!
I am so excited! I am really looking forward to seeing our baby and seeing what he/she looks like...amazing! Still feeling good. My belly is definitely out there. I went this week to Target and got some maternity shorts. It isn't cause I am that big yet, but I am big enough where my pants cut off my air and circulation, especially at work with kids. I needed something that would be flexible and loose. I am going to try them out and maybe go back and get another pair. On days I am not working, I am fine to wear my clothes, but being up and down with kids..no way! Working in a school makes me see how I want to raise my kids and not raise my kids. Being around them really opens your eyes...although I have been around them all my life. I go to the doctor on the 14th and will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat!!! Oh my gosh, I am so excited! This will be my first appointment since Misoouri and it is much needed! I want to know where I am and what's going on! I will be 16 weeks on Friday, so I am anxious to be in my fourth month and maybe start feeling the baby makes some soft movements. My book said that at this point the sex of the baby is clear and visible...yikes..I wonder what it will be? My neigbor and Nicole think it's a girl, and everyone else thinks its a boy...we'll see!:)

Doctor coming up!
Well, in about a week,I will finally be going in to Ft. Hood and getting my 16 week appointment. I will be able to hear the baby's heartbeat and maybe an ultrasound. If not, they usually do an ultrasound around 18-20 weeks. Either way, it's not far off. For those of you who don't know, Weston and I do not want to know the sex of the baby, so it will be a blessed surprise when we finally meet our child. Still feeling good. I am enjoying my job, and that definitely keeps me going. I am getting bigger in the belly region, yet, I am enjoying the moment and don't want to rush anything. I love where I am, and am excited about what is to come. The baby furniture is in..thank goodness! It is starting to feel like we are mommy and daddy. Maternity clothes are not far off. My shirts are not an issue, but the pants are getting a little too snug for comfort. Other than that, everything is good, I feel great, still, and am a healthy momma!
