Project Date Night: Building a Porch Swing

Today is the first day in a while that I haven't posted first thing in the morning. It has been so busy around here...we have company in this weekend and something going on every weekend for the next month and a half! So, today is going to be simple.

With it being fall and all, I have been dying to get a porch swing hung outside. It is so beautiful here and its perfect weather for a swing. At first we were going to buy one, and then my husband offered to build me one...okay!:) So, tonight is a project date night!!!

I am always looking for new creative ideas for date nights at home. As you know, once you have kids it is harder to get out. So, why not have a date night at home?! I will post my creative date nights when I have them, and hope they help inspire you to bring the "dating" back home:)

Tonight my honey and I are building this:

I am headed out now to go pick out a paint color, and then it will be back home to whip up some yummy Steak Taco Salad Bowls (recipe to come) and then start building!:) I will post pictures when the swing is hung!:)

Distressed...Furniture, that is!

I have been working on the guest bedroom for a couple weeks now, and although it isn't done, I thought I would share the pictures of the furniture we just painted and distressed! I am hooked on BOOKOO and am constantly finding beautiful furniture to fix up! We haven't had furniture for this room yet, so I glad its finally feeling more "homey". Here are the before and after shots:

This piece is my favorite and I bought it for $40! A little paint, some sand paper, and new hardware and voila!:)

This is a very simple night stand I bought from a Soldier who had a quick PCS change! I bought it for $20!

I still have work to do with finding little knick-knacks and maybe adding a shelf to the wall! I also would like to find a big bookshelf to house all of my books. I don't even have all of my books out because I have run out of space!

I have thoroughly enjoyed getting old and worn furniture and re-doing it! It is so rewarding and it makes it to where you get EXACTLY what you want!
We are hanging with friends and taking it easy this weekend! Hope you all have a great one! I will be adding a new recipe later!
TGIF!

From Tissue Box to Gift Box

I needed a gift box to put an ornament in for an Ornament Exchange! I am trying to be more creative these days, Thank you Pinterest, so I decided to use a tissue box....

Wrap your box in whatever you want and leave the top flap open for easy entry to the gift..

Add any cute extras~Letters as gift tags, ribbons, stickers, stamps, etc.

I get ideas from lots of people and places! I hope this can be one of your next ideas:)
Christmas is just a few days away! I am excited and sad, as I am every year, as it all comes and goes so fast! I hope you get your last minute shopping and wrapping done!

Wrapping: Simple Statements

Each year I look forward to picking out my Christmas wrapping paper and theme! This year I picked a few, and have a 3 year old who is crazy about CARS 2:) Therefore, one of my wrapping choices was solely for his enjoyment! I went with "Simple Statements" in my wrapping this year! Nothing special, just says a lot in the pattern and ribbon choice..

Happy Wrapping,

A little Brag

I just had to brag today because my heart has been reminded of why I LOVE my husband so much. I went to the commissary yesterday with the boys. Those of you with kids, especially more than one, know how trying of a task that can be. They had one of the "car" buggies, so I let the boys ride in that. Yes, it is rather bulky, however, I am HANDS FREE, and the boys entertain eachother and cannot go anywhere:) So, it is soooo worth it and makes for a happy shopping trip = happy momma and completed grocery list!

As I was rounding the corner to go to the next aisle, here comes Weston!!!!:) He got a break from work and decided to come help me at the commissary. WHAT.A.MAN. Not only that, but he pushed the cart, fed baby snacks, and kept the happy! He could have done a million things in his hour break:: PX, eat lunch in QUIET, workout, etc. BUt he surprised me and gave me a little break. After we unloaded the groceries at the checkout counter, he took the boys to the car, got them in their car seats, and started the a/c. I LOVE THAT MAN and cannot believe how blessed I am.

Thanks for letting my have "a little brag" moment:) Here is one of my fav pictures of us...

Happy Wednesday~
